Christopher Gibbons

Hello, My name is Christopher Gibbons, and I am the school counselor at Adams Elementary.  I also spend Mondays working at Trail Wind Elementary.

The Adams Counseling Program consists mainly of three facets:
1. Classroom Guidance Units:  In the Boise School District we are fortunate to have our own counseling curriculum (aligned to state Health standards).  Guidance lessons are focused on four primary areas:  Success in School, Conflict Management (including Bullying and Harassment), Safe Choices, and Careers and Future Planning.  If you're curious, you could always come by to check out a copy of all my lessons, K-6.
2.  Small Group work:  Based on the need of students, often times I will facilitate small group work here at Adams.  Groups can be focused on any number of topics, like:  divorce, anger management, study skills/academic support, stress management, and social skills, just to name a few.  Contact me directly by phone or email to inquire about students participating in small groups.
3.  Individual work with students:  I will also work with individual students, using mostly a solution-focused and short-term problem solving model of counseling, on issues that may be affecting school success.  Feel free to call with any questions or concerns.

This is my 25th year in the Boise School District as an Elementary Counselor, and I LOVE my job.

I am married and have four children of my own.  As I'm sure you already know, they keep us incredibly busy.  I also enjoy boating, golfing, and camping when I'm away from school.
