Adams Elementary 1955 - Present
In April of 1955, construction began on Adams Elementary School and it was completed in October 1955. On October 24th, 1955, Adams Elementary School opened its doors for classes with 112 boys and girls, grades 1st – 4th, with Helen Stimple as Principal. On January 26th, 1956, three months after it opened, Adams Elementary was dedicated to the Boise School District. In the fall of 1958, Adams opened the first fifth grade class, bringing the total number of students in the school to 155 with Maxine Smith as Principal. In 1964, a new cafeteria/gymnasium/stage was added on to the existing building. In 1991, more improvements came with adding a new library and seven new classrooms, along with a pitched roof, new windows and doors.
KTVB news did a special report on the 68th Anniversary of the Opening of Day of Adams, celebrating a reunion of the first graduating fifth grade class from 1958.
