 * WHERE MAGIC HAPPENS *

I “mustache” you about your librarian...

Kristi Ryan has been the librarian at Adams Elementary since 2020, where she brings stories to life and helps students discover the magic hidden in books. A fifth-generation Idaho resident, Kristi has deep roots in the community and a passion for creating a welcoming, curiosity-filled space for every reader who walks through the library doors.

When she’s not matching students with their next favorite book, Kristi can often be found caring for her lively collection of animals, including guinea pigs, axolotls, a tarantula, goldfish, and dogs. She has a special love for all things magical, from enchanting stories to imaginative adventures that spark wonder in young minds.

Kristi is married and the proud parent of two college age children. She believes that a love of reading and curiosity can open doors to endless possibilities for families and students alike.

Her Mission

The Library is a place where you can be yourself, explore who you want to become, be comfortable, safe, loved and feel free to explore and grow. When asked what is her "WHY?" Ms. Kristi replied, “My “why” is all centered around creating safe, happy and loving core memories for children. I want them to go home and have conversations with family and friends about what happened in library today. My hope is that they are excited and inspired about what they've learned and want to try something new. A library is the only place you can live a thousand lifetimes and have a thousand adventures from the safety of a book.”

”Stories Under the Stars”

We had much fun with our stuffed animal sleepovers, Bingo reading challenge game, constellation creations, wishing on stars, taking the Story Walk in the main hallway, hosting a “book tasting” for 4-6th grade students, making shadow puppets and reading camping themed books. Our culminating event was our “Books and Bingo” family night on December 4th, during book fair week. The idea was to bring gently used books from home and do a community swap. We were able to give away the 70 books we received from ICFL during this time, too!

Our Vision

Every student a reader; every learner an explorer. We envision a district where every student builds a unique reading identity and possesses the critical thinking skills to navigate a changing world with confidence and curiosity.

Our Mission

The Library Services program provides an adaptive "in-between" space where students connect classroom learning to personal passion. We foster a lifelong love of literacy and provide a safe, supportive environment for students to explore, fail, try again, and grow.

Our Values

Belonging: We are a sanctuary for all students, reflecting their interests and welcoming their authentic selves. Agency: we empower students to take ownership of their learning and develop their own voice. Agility: We adapt our programs and spaces to meet the evolving needs of our schools and community. Integration: We bridge the gaps between content areas, making learning cohesive and relevant.

Our Commitments

We serve the Boise School District community through four pillars of excellence: Knowledgeable Professionals: Expert guidance from certified staff who lead with empathy and expertise. Accessible Spaces: Flexible, modern environments designed for both quiet reflection and active collaboration. Vibrant Collections: Curated, relevant materials that act as both mirrors to our students' lives and windows to the world. Inclusive Programming: Engaging activities that celebrate student interests and spark a community-wide joy for reading.
